Assembly Video

Assembling with the help of the video guide is the recommended method to reduce questions or issues with assembly.

Preassembly Tips and Advice

  • If you are uncomfortable with bike mechanics, it is best to have it assembled by a bike shop or expert.
  • Carefully remove ONLY the packing zip ties, do not cut any wires, cables, or zip ties that are used to route wires.
  • There is a plastic spacer supporting the front brake caliper between the brake pad area. Note that squeezing the brake lever without the spacer or bike rotor installed will clamp the pistons closed. It is recommended to save the spacer to use anytime you remove the front wheel.
  • Avoid touching the brake rotors with your fingers. The natural oil present on your hands will contaminate the rotors, reduce braking efficacy and create a loud whining pitch when braking.
  • Apply grease to the pedal threads and seat post before installation

Assembly Basics

  • Left Pedal

    - The left pedal is reverse threaded and must be installed on the left side of the bike (without chainring). To install it, properly align in the left crank insert and rotate counterclockwise by hand. If threaded correctly, it will not require any force to hand tighten. Once hand tight, use a wrench on the flat edge of the pedal insert to tighten fully.

  • Right Pedal

    - The right pedal is standard threaded and must be installed on the right side of the bike (with chainring). To install it, properly align in the left crank insert and rotate counterclockwise by hand. If threaded correctly, it will not require any force to hand tighten. Once hand tight, use a wrench on the flat edge of the pedal insert to tighten fully.

  • Cable Routing

    - Before installing your handlebars inspect the wire and cable routing, and match the orientation as shown in the video. The wires should not cross over or you will damage the electrical components of your new bike.

  • Handlebars

    - You will need to orient the handlebars before installing. The display and throttle will be on the left side (without chainring) and the shifter on the right side (with chainring). When you tighten the stem onto the handlebar clamp area tighten the screws in a star pattern making sure the gap is the same at all locations.

  • Brake Levers

    - The levers should be facing forward and angled slightly towards the ground in order to comfortably squeeze them while maintaining good grip and control on handle bars while riding.

  • Front Fender (ST/XR)

    - The fender should be mounted on the front of the fork, behind the light. There are 5 points of adjustment to get the right fit for the fender.

  • Front Wheel (ST/XR)

    - Install the quick release skewer with the conical springs pointing inward. Thread the nut on a small amount so it can self center and leave room for installation. Carefully align the front wheel with the brake rotor on the left.

  • Front Wheel (XC)

    - The thru axle must be installed from the drive side of the fork. Find a video tutorial on this step: Installing Thru Axle Wheel.

  • Display

    - Align the display wires before connecting. Line up both the arrows to avoid damaging or bending the delicate metal pins.

Post Assembly Tuning and Safety Check

  • Index your derailleur and verify hanger is straight

    - Failure to index your derailleur and set the limit screws may cause damage to your rear wheel, motor cable, motor, derailleur, or derailleur hanger.
  • Ensure your brakes are adjusted and bedded

    - Brake calipers must be adjusted to perform up to specification. Note that new brake pads need to go through the bedding process and may make noise when braking until bedded.
  • Double check your cable routing

    - Matching cable routing as shown in the assembly video will reduce stress on wiring and avoid out-of-warranty damage to your ebike components
  • Adjust your fenders

    - Rubbing fenders is common. Adjusting your fenders will ensure no noises or contact with the tire during operation.
  • Prodigy Display

    - Learn about your display features
  • Prodigy Battery

    -  The battery can be charged on or off the bike. To partially release the battery, gently turn the key. To fully remove the battery use both hands to support the battery, push the lever upwards on the lower left side of the battery to release it.
