Roadster and Gravel Roadster Throttle Displays

These displays are featured on more recent generation bicycles. In this article we go over what the buttons do and some very basics of the display. For any more advanced settings or troubleshooting, please reach out to support via the contact page on our website. 




Menu Button

The menu button has a few key functions and also works as the "select" or "confirmation button" in some settings screens the plus and minus buttons are used to scroll and the menu button is used to confirm the selection. 

The basics are as follows: 

  • Hold the menu button for five seconds to power on the bicycle. Holding the menu button for five seconds while the bike is on, will power down the bike. 
  • Tapping the menu button when the display is on, cycles the variable display indicated above. That display can show: odometer (total miles on bike), trip distance, and trip time. To reset these values: hold the M button and minus button at the same time. The odometer will not be reset however the trip time and distance will be. 


Plus Button

The plus button has two main functions and also works as the "UP" button for scrolling in menus. The basics are as follows: 

  • Pushing the plus button while the display is on will increase the pedal assist level. Levels are 1-5 with five being the most assistance, and one being the least. 
  • Holding the plus button will turn on the display backlight. This can be helpful for riding in the dark. The icon circled in orange above, indicates the backlight is on. 


Minus Button

The minus button has two main functions and also works as the "DOWN" button for scrolling in menus. The basics are as follows: 

  • Pushing the minus button while the display is on will decrease the pedal assist level. Levels are 1-5 with five being the most assistance, and one being the least. 
  • Holding the minus button will engage "walk assist" mode. The walk assist will provide a small amount of power to the rear wheel to assist the rider should they need to push the bike. This can be helpful for walking up a ramp, loading on to a rack, or waking with a bike that has a heavy load. This functionality, is indicated by the icon circled in purple above. 


Throttle Switch

The throttle switch controls the power going to the rear wheel. Pushing it down will allow the rider to move forward without having to pedal. This is easier on the rider than pedal assist mode, however uses significantly more battery, as the motor is doing all the work. The most amount of power on an ebike is used getting up to speed, with this in mind it is best to pedal from a stop a little bit before engaging the throttle to ensure best battery life.


Battery Status

The battery status indicator shows the current level of the battery. There are five bars inside the battery icon that will deplete from right to left as the battery drains. Each bar represents around 20% power and when they are all out the battery status icon will flash, indicating low battery. A snapshot of the different icons is shown below: 




 

Changing Between Metric and Imperial Units

This can be changed by holding (+) and (-) buttons at the same time, and the with the menu (M) button scrolling 4 times to get to the MILE or KM option. Hold the menu button after adjustment, and that will bring you back to the Home Screen.
